Newport Beach Mariners Mile runs along
Pacific Coast Highway between Newport Boulevard and Dover Street. It is not the
most scenic area of Newport Beach but certainly one of the most popular
for dining and shopping.
Distinguished by its nautical theme, Mariners Mile is also known
as the region where traffic slows down on PCH. There are several stoplights and
loss of two highway lanes in this one-mile stretch and the two elements combined
almost insure that you will find yourself stopped at a light, looking at the
activity in the parking lots of shops.
Restaurants, art
galleries, shops, convenience stores and luxury automobile and yacht sales front
the harbor and the inland side of Pacific Coast Highway. This section of Newport
Beach is defined geographically by a hill and plateau above Pacific Coast
Highway where houses sit and enjoy not only views of Pacific Coast Highway but
also the beautiful Newport Bay and Newport Harbor.
Water views of Newport Harbor are mostly obscured along
Pacific Coast Highway, blocked by buildings and restaurants. But for those who
come to dine or take a boat ride or cruise, the views are wonderful.
At Mariners Mile you can charter a boat at the marina for special
events, corporate gatherings and dinner cruises, rent Duffy electric boats that
seat up to 12 people or book the gondola rides that travel through the
canals of Newport Beach. |
Restaurants along Mariners Mile include Villa Nova Ristorante,
Arches, Royal Thai Cuisine, Chart House, Rusty Pelican, Joe's Crab Shack,
Jack Shrimp, Margaritaville, Dolce, Starbucks, McDonalds and several others.
Boats: California Coast Yacht Sales, The Crow's Nest Ship and
Yacht Brokerage, Olympic Boat Centers, Intercollegiate Sailing and Rowing
Base for Orange Coast College, Sea Base for Boy Scouts, Hornblower Yacht
Cruises, Electra Boats, Duffy boat sales & rentals and more. |
