Pictured above is an aerial view of Marina del Rey that includes the very aqua blue water with a harbor and many boats.  The pier on the right hand center portion, seen as a tadpole-shaped item extending into the Pacific Ocean below the channel is Venice Beach Pier. 

The beach near the top of the photo above the channel is Playa del Rey. It stops where the houses and landscape ends at LAX terminus and runways. Los Angeles International Airport is the dull gray formation filling much of the top portion of the photo. The beach in that uppermost portion of the photo is Dockweiler Beach, operated by Los Angeles County Beaches.
