Mammoth Lakes, Calif.―Snowmobiling
is going up, up, up in popularity as women, men, girls and boys climb aboard
the fun vehicles that provide a fantastic form of outdoor exercise in the
beautiful snow-covered mountains of California's great destination, Mammoth
Lakes.
According to
Don Little of DJ's Snowmobile Rentals in the Mono County resort area, the
kids that grew up snowmobiling 20 years ago have grown up and are bringing
their own children to experience the time-honored tradition of winter
recreation, snowmobiling at Mammoth Lakes.
If you've never hopped on
this easy-to-maneuver electric vehicle, never fear. Mono County works in
cooperation with California's Off-Highway Vehicle Division to groom approx.
100 miles of trails with names like Sand Flat, Crater Flat and Mammoth
Scenic Loop. All levels of riders can find something just their speed to
enjoy in the mountain paradise, located on the eastern slopes of
California's Sierra Nevada mountains. The nearest major airport is
Reno/Tahoe Airport.
By the way, if
snowmobiling is not your passion or interest, you can also ski, snowboard,
sit beside a fireplace, shop, dine, skate and in the summer fish, hike, ride
a bike, etc. This is an outdoorsmen's paradise. If you don't like fresh air,
scented pines and the deepest blue skies, don't go to Mammoth Lakes.
But if you go, be
sure to get more information from the Mono County Film/Tourism Commission.
