Incorporated in 1984, Mammoth Lakes is a relatively young town and is the perfect vacation destination for the entire family. The town of Mammoth Lakes is located in the heart of California's Eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range in Mono County. Mammoth Lakes is about 325 miles north of Los Angeles, and about the same distance east of San Francisco. You can get to Mammoth Lakes by automobile via U.S. Highway 395 from the north and south and Interstate 80 and Hwy 50 from the east and west. State Highway 120 and State Highway 108 are open in the summer months only.

Mammoth Lakes also has many outdoor movie nights and concerts throughout the year. Even if you don't go to an event there are still many things to do, such as a rock climbing wall, biking, golf, water sports, horseback riding, hot-air ballooning and much much more. The summers in Mammoth lakes are very nice with temperatures averaging 75-80 and in the winter temperatures average 30-40 degrees. There are mostly sunny skies year round. This small town also averages about 30 feet of snow a year which is perfect for skiing and snowing, Mammoth Lakes is home to one of the country's largest resorts. Mammoth Lakes sits at an altitude of 7,800 - 8,000 feet. The surrounding mountains rise to elevations exceeding 12,000 feet. The summer and fall would be the best time of year to visit.
