San Diego's La Jolla, an unincorporated community that's considered the upscale part of the city of San Diego, includes hotels where the beach access is a little tougher to come by, though the views are every bit as nice as the southern areas of the city in places such as Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach and Mission Beach. The Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines is named after the type of pine tree found in limited areas of the world, and mostly just in this small region of Southern California. While staying at the Hilton, you're sitting on a PGA golf course, one of the few public PGA courses. In addition, you are right next door to a fine property, the Lodge at Torrey Pines, a craftsman styled hotel that underwent renovation several years ago. While staying at the Hilton, be sure to wander over to The Lodge to take a look. In fact, the Lodge's spa facility takes guests and is well worth the treat, whether staying at the Lodge or not. It's an excellent way to spend some time relaxing on your vacation.

For other activities, there are beaches and downtown La Jolla shopping nearby as well as Birch Aquarium, which is a delight. Enjoy the outdoors in this scenic location where massages are offered under cabanas poolside, the public Torrey Pines Golf Course is on site and beyond that is even a hang gliding school and launch ramp.  This is a two thumbs up property.
