California Christmas Events
For over
40 years the Valley Concert Chorale has been
recognized as the premier chorus in San
Francisco Bay area region known as the
Tri-Valley. Performing in cities that
include Livermore, Pleasanton, Hayward,
Oakland, Walnut Creek, Fremont and San
Francisco, the nonprofit organization
features concerts and special performances
for the public. The Valley Concert Chorale
can also be booked for special events.
Through
the years, the chorale has offered a variety
of musical performances to serve the diverse
musical tastes of its audiences. The Valley
Concert Chorale receives financial support
from grants, ticket sales, membership dues,
donations, the Music in the Schools program,
and a variety of other sources.
Quite
busy during the Christmas holiday season,
Valley Concert Chorale traditionally offers
one or several concerts to delight audiences
with their skilled voices, traditional
songs, holiday favorites and special treats
such as Do-It-Yourself Messiah.
CD
Releases: Carmina Burana (Orff)
includes a collaboration between the Valley
Concert Chorale and the Las Positas College
Chamber Choir, the San Francisco Concert
Chorale and the Cantabella Children's
Chorus. The CD is sold for $15. Also
available is Nowell, Carols of Comfort
and Joy, containing Christmas music by
Mendelssohn, Britten, Joubert and others.

HOLIDAY CONCERTS 2007 SING-IT-YOURSELF MESSIAH
Be part of a renewed Tri-Valley holiday
tradition at the Sing-It-Yourself Messiah,
at 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. , Friday, December 14, at the
First Presbyterian Church, 4th and L
Streets, Livermore. Admission is approx. $10 per
person at the door. Enjoy an evening singing
Handel’s popular work. Bring a score or
borrow one for the evening. The evening will
include soloists and concert pianist Daniel
Glover at the keyboard.

Chorale to hold auditions
The Chorale is looking for singers who enjoy
performing a wide range of music from
classical to contemporary, from folk to
jazz. If you have sight reading skills and
enjoy singing exciting and challenging

Evening of Piano Music with Daniel Glover,”
a benefit concert for Valley Concert
Chorale, held in November; John Rutter’s “Gloria” and Donald McCullough’s
“Canite Tuba: A Christmas Triptych” and
Sing-It-Yourself Messiah in December;
“Three Tableaus of Fauré” Requiem, the
“Messe Basse,” and “Cantique” de Jean Racine
in March 2007 and Bernstein’s “Chichester
Psalms” Broadway selections, Britten’s
“Rejoice In the Lamb,” Henk Badings’ “Trois
Chansons,” and selected pieces by William
Byrd in May 2007.
