La Piedra State Beach near Malibu, CA

La Piedra State Beach is one of many small beaches near Malibu, CA that help make up the Robert Meyer Memorial State Beach. The beach is not far from the immensely popular Zuma Beach, off the Pacific Coast Highway. The word "la piedra" literally means "rock" in Spanish, and the beach fits certainly lives up to its name. From its high stone cliffs to the scenic bluffs, La Piedra State Beach is a tourists' dream.

La Piedra State Beach is hardly ever crowded, so it makes for a great place to relax and enjoy the California sun with the family or a close loved one. The beach is home to some of the most beautiful reefs and kelp forests in California, making snorkeling and scuba diving one of the most popular activities at La Piedra. Of course swimming and relaxing on the beautiful white sands are a close second!!

The beach is most easily accessed by a small dirt trail located at the north side of the beach. The trail is well known for being rocky and steep, so make sure to wear comfortable footwear upon arrival. Parking is $2.00 for an all day pass, which can be purchased starting at 8:00 am, and the restrooms are located at the head of the trail to the beach. The nearest restaurants are about 2 to 3 miles from La Piedra, so packing a bagged lunch is always suggested. Regardless of who you bring with you to enjoy La Piedra State Beach, you are guaranteed to enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches along Pacific Coast Highway.
