Knott's Berry Farm Theme Park - California Amusements & Thrill Rides

ctm910.JPG (39447 bytes)
Walter Knott entered the amusement business when people began lining up for his wife's chicken dinners and boysenberry pie at their popular Buena Park restaurant. Walter thought it would be nice to offer  entertainment while customers waited.

Chicken dinners are still served at the Knotts Market Place in front of the theme park. And while there are more rides than ever, goldd

panning, staged gun fights, exhibits of yarn spinning and wood carving continue to bring the rich history of California to life.  A cowboy's handiwork brings delight.

Welcome to the land of Charlie Brown, Lucy and Snoopy. Knotts Berry Farm is a mix of the Old West entertainment and extreme thrill. Six themed areas...Ghost Town, Camp Snoopy, Indian Trails, Fiesta Village, the Boardwalk and Wild Water Wilderness will take you a day to explore. Knotts Berry Farm is one of the Top 10 most popular theme parks in California. With an Old Western theme, thrill roller coasters, extreme rides and a location 10 to 15 minutes from Disneyland, it's well worth visiting for a day of fun. During the summer they have great entertainment and BBQs and the fall brings Halloween Haunt, an amazing, scary experience.

There are over 165 rides at the park, including the longest, tallest wooden roller coaster in the West, GhostRider. After you've ridden it, you can view a photograph of yourself on a monitor and purchase the image taken while you were experiencing the GhostRider thrill.

Supreme Scream is the tallest man made structure in Orange County. It offers an experience similar to bunjee jump without risk.

XCELERATOR roller coaster ride hydraulically launches riders at a speed of 82 mph in 2.3 seconds through a 205-foot ascent and immediate descent at a 90-degree angel.

Old West attractions in Ghost Town include: Timber Mountain Log Ride, Ghost Town Jail, Log Ride, Funnel Cake, Calico Magic Shop, Calico Mine Ride, Pan for Gold, Candle Crafters, General Store, Butterfield Stagecoach, Hunter's Paradise Shooting Gallery, Calico Railroad, Judge Roy Bean's Hitchin' Post, Timberline Twister, Screamin' Swing, Silver Bullet and more.

Fiesta Village Joe Cool's Sugar Shack includes rides such as Hat Dance, Dragon Swing, Waveswinger, Jaguar! and Montezooma's Revenge.

Just for kids: Walter K Steamboat Camp Snoopy, Woodstock's Airmail Camp Snoopy, Red Baron Camp Snoopy, Flying Ace Balloon Race, Grand Sierra Scenic Railroad, Charlie Brown Speedway, Snoopy Bounce, Huff And Puff®, Camp Bus, Log Peeler, Lucy's Tugboat, Rocky Road Truckin' Company, Timberline Twister, High Sierra Ferris Wheel Camp Snoopy, JoeCool's G8 SK8 and Peanuts characters roaming through the Village.

Fiesta Village includes La Revolucion, Hat Dance, Dragon Swing Fiesta Village, WaveSwing, Montezooma's Revenge and much more.

Popular events held throughout the year include the annual Halloween Scream in the Fall, Summer BBQ's, dances, Snoopy's Ice Skating Revues, musical shows, Old West gunfights and loads of live entertainment. It's a place that's enjoyed by children and adults alike, with events and activities targeted for specific ages.

Knotts Berry Farm started out as a place to eat chicken dinners (they still serve them hot and tasty) but grew and turned into not one but two major theme parks. There's Knotts Berry Farm on one side of Beach Boulevard and Soak City on the other. Both are owned and operated by Cedar Fair, L.P.

Knotts Berry Farm, the first theme park, began as a place to pan for gold and do a few fun things while waiting to dine at the famous restaurant in Buena Park that served crispy, fried chicken, mash potatoes, all the fixins' and a boysenberry pie, a delicious berry hybrid created by the family. So popular was the food that the clever Walter Knotts thought up some entertainment while folks stood waiting for their turn to dine at the limited seating food venue. It started with a few simple, fun things to do such as pan for gold. Walter had a passion for the Old West and wanted to bring the educational aspects of that era to diners standing in line.
