Inspiration
Point
includes views of the Newport Bay and Catalina Island. Location: Ocean
Blvd. at Orchid, Corona del Mar Beach
Inspiration Point in Corona del
Mar, a community of Newport Beach, California, offers sweeping ocean views
of the Newport Beach channel, Pacific Ocean and the rocky structures and
beaches below the cliffside vantage point.
Inspiration Point Park is
not only a popular place to take a stroll, sit and read a book or walk the
dog, it's also used often for small weddings. Like the other lookout point
nearby on Ocean Boulevard, it can accommodate weddings of 20 people or less,
though no restroom facilities are available. Permits are issued through the
City of Newport Beach. Most couples getting married will hold an ceremony on
the hilltop bluff and then leave the park and head to a catering facility
such as a restaurant or hotel with meeting space for their reception.
With the beach just a
short walk down a path, Inspiration Point is ideal for a morning or
afternoon of exploring. From the bluff you can watch sailboats and fishing
boats go by, watch the birds fly and dive, and sometimes even see migrating
whales in the distance.
Located on the southeast
end of Corona Del Mar State Beach, the ocean below Inspiration Point Park is
popular with scuba divers. The waters in this area are calm, but open to a
south swell. There's good snorkeling and the shallow rocks when the waters
are calm.
