Eagle Scout Butterfly Park

Huntington Beach, Calif-

Written by Chris MacDonald, HB Ambassador/The Local News Columnist.

Grant Ogawa from Boy Scout Troop #578 and his 70 friends recently planted 300 Butterfly Plants at Gibbs Butterfly Park as part of his Eagle Scout Project. Working with Leslie Gilson, Gibbs Park Restoration Coordinator, and Jean Nagy, President of The Huntington Beach Tree Society, the Marina High School student and his enthusiastic volunteers from Marina, Edison and Mount Sac, worked hours digging and planting milkweed which feeds Monarch Butterflies. Thank you Grant for doing this to help make the park more beautiful and attract lots of new butterflies. I'd also like to mention that Jerry Person The Huntington Beach City Historian was on hand at the event. If you would like to get involved in Gibbs Butterfly Park, please call Leslie Gilson at:(714) 841-1942.
