Huntington Beach, California
is
lesser known than surrounding
neighbors for its food offerings but
the restaurants are experiencing a
renaissance that becomes apparent
when you step out to eat and be
entertained.
While Newport Beach and Long Beach
both have a buzz going, HB's foods
veer toward comfort, casual, and
chain (the three c's).

Some of the chain restaurants in
this seaside community in Orange
County include: California Pizza
Kitchen, The Cheesecake Factory, Il
Pomodoro, Buca de Beppo, King's Fish
House, Islands, Macaroni Grill,
Olive Garden, BJ's Pizza, Chili's,
Super Mex, and dozens more. The fast
food chains are well represented, as
are the Starbucks coffee places.
Several gourmet restaurants that
tend to be overlooked are located at
the resort hotels, Hyatt and Hilton.
Their prices are not for the budget
minded, but dining at them can be a
treat. While wines and wine pairing
dinners are edging their way into
the scene, Huntington Beach serves
up great cocktails with meals.
Downtown along Main Street and the
Huntington Beach Pier is the hub of
nightlife, music, and food. Fred's
Mexican Cafe,
Luggatti's, No Ka Oi,
Hurricane's, Longboards, Killarney,
Sharkeez, and many more make this
the mid-priced dining capital. Out
on the pier grab a Ruby's burger,
fries and malt, or head to
Beachfront 301 for an affordable
happy hour. New to the scene with
sizzling steaks and beef are
Silvera's and Black Bull Chop House.
For sushi, Sushi on Fire and Ra
Sushi, and Tuna Town are all uptown
when it comes to flavor and
freshness.
The view restaurants include Duke's
Huntington Beach, Savannah's at the
Beach, Spark Woodfire Cooking,
Fred's, and Ruby's.
There are other places to go along
Beach Blvd., Pacific Coast Highway,
and at Bella Terra mall.
Often called a bedroom community
that loves tourists, you and your
kids will never want for convenience
with Burger King, McDonalds, In N
Out, KFC, Carl's Jr., Pizza Hut,
Domino's, Del Taco, Taco Bell,
Wienerschnitzel, and local favorites
such as Wahoo Fish Tacos, George's
Mexican Food, and Philly Grille.
For themed food, Huntington Beach is
soft on the cultural offerings in
the realm of Greek, Indian and
exotic. The meals and menus again
veer toward fast food style.
