Vacation -
California Beaches Choice ---Have
you been to Huntington Beach lately?
Check out some
Reviews of
hotels
such as
Hyatt Resort and
Hilton Resort, two side-by-side
favorites.
Mixed with the new groups are
classic favorites. Dean Torrence of
Jan & Dean band who rose to stardom
as a youngster for his surfing and
skateboarding-themed songs can be
seen from time to time walking along
Main Street. Dean's a local who
continues to travel and perform the
songs the world has never grown
tired of.
Experiencing so much
fortune and fame at a young age did
not destroy the character of this
handsome man who's a talented artist
and singer still. He exemplifies the
new Huntington Beach, a place where
those who've succeeded share the
spotlight with the up and coming
artists, musicians and surfers. This
new Huntington Beach is a perfect
blend of classic California maturity
and young, cutting-edge innovation.
So much for the people. What about
the food? Scattered throughout the
city with a concentration of outdoor
restaurants near the beach in
Downtown Huntington Beach are a
variety of hip, happening places
that are mostly affordable. If you
try to find a stuffy, upscale place
to dine in Huntington Beach, you may
not find one.
Favorite restaurants
tourists choose include Duke's
Huntington Beach, named for the
famous father of surfing, Duke Kahanamoku. You'll find Duke
immortalized inside the restaurant
and in two additional statues in
Surf City. One is directly across
the street at Huntington Surf &
Sport store and the other is a bust
of Duke inside the Huntington Beach
International Surfing Museum located
near the corner of 5th and Olive
Streets.
Popular hotels for conventions and
weddings include Hyatt Regency
Huntington Beach Resort and Spa.
Affordable hotels are extremely
popular choices to the upscale
resort options that begin around
$250/night. Top choices include
several Best Western Hotels such as
Best Western Huntington Beach Inn at
the Beach and Best Western Regency
Inn on Beach Boulevard near the 5
Points Shopping Center where you'll
find Gap, Ann Taylor outlet, Aeosole,
Old Navy and many more. Howard
Johnson Express Inn is affordable,
convenient and clean. It is also
located on Beach Boulevard a few
miles from the beach and not far
from the San Diego Freeway.
If you're in the mood for a movie,
play or you just want to play,
there's a new 20-screen theater,
Century Theatre, at Bella Terra Mall
or the local beach favorite, Mann
Pierside at the beach near the
corner of Main Street and Pacific
Coast Highway. Plays are offered by
the local Huntington Beach
Playhouse, a nonprofit performance
group with a schedule that goes
throughout the year. The plays are
usually held in the beautiful
Huntington Beach Central Library
Theater. It is located in a
fantastic library and Central Park
complex and features waterfalls and
architecture from world class
designer, Dion Neutra.
Within the same Central Park complex
are horse riding rentals, Frisbee
Disc Golf, batting cages, Huntington
Beach Dog Park, Lake Huntington with
Alices Breakfast in the Park
overlooking the scenic lake, walking
paths, an exercise par course,
playgrounds and picnic facility
rentals. Many a company picnic,
family gathering and wedding has
been held on the green lawns of the
city's 350-acre park complex.
Long recognized as a fantastic
bedroom community for commuters who
work in Los Angeles or Orange
County, 200,000 residents enjoy easy
access to beaches, freeways, three
airports and numerous amenities such
as great shopping at one of the
nation's largest shopping malls,
South Coast Plaza, just minutes from
Huntington Beach.
Conveniently located just 15 miles
from Disneyland, 15 minutes from
Newport Beach and Long Beach,
Huntington Beach makes a great
family vacation destination for an
overnight stay or weekend getaway.
While the majority of visitors do not surf and
not all even tread into the water,
you can watch surfing all year long
in the Pacific Ocean waters offshore.
There are bicycles you can rent, a
jog path to stroll on and some
special events in the summer that
draw large crowds to the beach to
see free sports entertainment.
Every Friday, there's a craft fair
and farmer's market (weather
permitting).
For great hotels, check out the
Hilton, Hyatt or Best Western
Huntington Beach Inn at the beach.
Affordable properties include Howard
Johnson, Comfort Suites and Best
Western Regency Inn.
