Huntington State Beach in Huntington Beach, California is one of two California Parks facilities within the bounds of the City of Huntington Beach. (the other is Bolsa Chica State Beach.)

Huntington State beach sits on the far southern end of the three beaches. It is connected to Huntington City Beach, operated by the city. At Pacific Coast Highway beginning at Beach Boulevard, and going south for several miles to Brookhurst, you'll discover this gem. Its layout is flat sand and a wide beach with room to play, roam, have a bonfire or just lie down. Access to this beach is either on bicycle, bus or you must park your vehicle in the lot and pay around $10, more or less. That fee is charged for a full day of parking, so if you're only visiting for a short time, it's not as good a deal.

From the air, Huntington State Beach looks like flat, thin strip of ribbon that separates the ocean from the buildings and land. Some vacationers like renting a plane or helicopter to fly over for aerial views, though you'll often be treated to such views of Orange County beaches and Huntington Beach from commercial aircraft flying into and out of Orange County Airport in Santa Ana.

Volleyball nets, bonfire pits, sandy beaches, the Pacific Ocean and palm trees line this beach that some say is rather barren.  It's assets are its sand. There's also a paved bike path some call the strand. It runs through this beach and connect nearly 9 miles of oceanfront.

Concession stands are open during summer months at Huntington State Beach. You'll find ice cream, sodas, candy, hot dogs, sandwiches, chips and the usual beach foods. But you can also bring your own and have a cookout if you manage to snag a bonfire ring.   They are available first-come, first-serve basis.

From volleyball to surfing, sunbathing to just chilling, you're really going to love Huntington State Beach if you like long stretches of sand to sink your toes in.

Huntington State Beach is located opposite Magnolia Avenue on Pacific Coast Highway.
