This is the only hotel we could find in the heart of Santa Barbara, California's State Street shopping, dining and theatre district. There are many fantastic, gourmet restaurants, paseos with the charm of old California and modern conveniences such as Nordstrom's. Most hotels and resorts are near the beach or on streets surrounding State Street. While you can get lots of exercise walking from your hotel to the shops (always easier than driving and finding parking), this hotel is located in the midst of it with everything just a step out the door.  The train station where Amtrak coastal excursion trains stop and the beach are just a few long blocks down State Street and take from 5 to 10 minutes to get to on foot, as we recall.
