West Hollywood is the city next to Hollywood, but is by no means dwarfed in terms of entertainment. Sometimes called boys town, West Hollywood's famous clubs such as Whiskey a Go Go helped launch musical and comedy careers of the Doors, Who, and other famous rock bands. It has a unique Hustler store, vibrant nightlife with some of the world's top musical artists playing at famous clubs and the world's largest Halloween Party each year.
West Hollywood is such a unique place, too, because the people you meet at hotels and in stores mostly have interesting stories to tell. They stick around Hollywood often because they have a book, a script or some other thing they're trying to pitch or sell. We actually know of several people coming from the midwest and eventually succeeding to some degree in the arena they seek to enter in Hollywood. West Hollywood is one such place they gravitate to upon arrival.
WeHo is a mix of affordable (by L.A. standards) hotels and upscale hotel rooms.
Some travelers have complained about places such as the Hyatt in West Hollywood, because they thought it was too noisy. You have to remember that some hotels are in the heart of the music district and as such may even host musicians who stay there as guests.
West Hollywood is popular as an overnighter for even locals in San Diego and Orange County who don't want to drive home after drinking and music, or Laugh Factory entertainment. It's an excellent idea to book a room for such events. You feel like you've gone to another planet for just a day. Be sure to check out the shopping, dining, eclectic little bakeries and world class restaurants. It's hard not to be entertained on a visit to West Hollywood.
