Universal City is home to Universal Studios Hollywood. This is where Hollywood filming took root in the early 1900's, paving way for the movie and music industries to follow. For tourists visiting one of the top themed attractions in California, be sure to stay at Universal City hotels near the theme park so you can enjoy a full day of entertainment that can include City Walk with dining, night clubs and spectacular live music. Even though we are Southern California locals, our staff has visited and stayed at the two major hotels in Universal City, each time on conferences. The Hilton at Universal City is popular that it no longer markets its product throughout the Internet inventory. So your best bet and greater chance at finding a room will be at the Sheraton. I loved the Sheraton for its conference facilities and got to know the place after spending several days there covering a transportation conference.
It sits up on a hill and the rooms offer views either direction or side of the hotel. The room decor when I visited include some cool, neutral tones, and the classic black & white photos of Hollywood legends. The bed was simply awesome, too. It was firm, yet featured quality bedding and high count sheets and duvets.
Just around the bend from the theme park, you can walk over to Universal Studios Hollywood from the hotel, where you'll find City Walk, an incredible plaza filled with entertainment and dining, plus mostly souvenir shops.
