Tustin, California Travel Guide

Huntington Beach Pier

Orange County is one of the busiest tourist destinations in the state of California. As home to not one, but several major theme parks, our California vacation guide includes pictures and videos of these park attractions that include Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm and Disney's California Adventure. The top visited attraction is Disneyland, of course. The host city for this first Disney park is Anaheim. It not only features over 150 hotels, but also is surrounded by hotels that enjoy spillover attendance from the park. Garden Grove hotels along Harbor Boulevard are some of the hotels serving Disneyland and conventions.

Anaheim Convention Center enjoys an active year-round calendar of conferences and conventions, and service nearly every industry with its state-of-the-art facilities. It's not difficult to get your spouses and conferences attendees to come to a conference in Orange County because of Disneyland--and it's beaches.

In addition to theme parks, there are over 40 miles of beaches in Orange County. The closet beaches is Seal Beach, only 11.5 miles distance and accessible via Garden Grove Freeway. A beach stay in Orange County might include a resort experience with spa treatments (bring your checkbook and plan to spend about $350- 600 per night, spa included.) But having a jolly beach time doesn't require large sums of money. You can find affordable beach accommodations for around $125-150 per night.

Getting around Orange County is possible by OCTA buses that charge around $1.50 each way. There are Amtrak stations in Anaheim, Fullerton and Irvine. But for maximum use of your time, you'll probably want to rent a car, the preferred mode of transportation in most of California.

Orange County hotels around theme parks often offer great prices and value, while beach hotels tend to cost more and can vary in their quality and amenities. The most popular hotels are around the theme parks, John Wayne (Orange County) Airport and the beaches. There are some situations in which you'll discover sell out of room inventories when a huge convention at Anaheim, a special holiday such as 4th of July falls on a weekend and the beach hotels can be full, or other special events that you didn't anticipate. Most times you can show up and find a room the day you arrive, but we've noticed this year that the hotels you are counting can disappear from the available list, so if a particular brand or hotel really matters, book ahead so you won't be disappointed.
