Sunset Beach is the only north Orange County beach with hotels at the beach. Famous for TV shows such as Sunset Beach, the sunsets are spectacular in one of Southern California's favorite towns.

When visiting and staying in Southern California, Sunset Beach is one of the closest beaches to Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, the Queen Mary ship and boat trips to Catalina Island. In addition, to the north is Seal Beach and to the south is Huntington Beach. The hotels in Sunset Beach are close to seafood restaurants, bars with live bands some nights and weekends, an art gallery and Sunset Gondola, a special treat day or night. The one mile greenbelt in the center of two streets, N. and S. Pacific, is perfect for strolls, but you can also ride a bicycle or skate by catching the south end of Huntington Beach's Bolsa Chica State Beach. Sunset Beach has a fenced playground for kids, is extremely popular for kite surfing and windsurfing, and the beach has volleyball nets and expansive sand to relax and mellow out on.

Several annual events throughout the year include the Mother's Day Weekend Sunset Beach Art Festival and a Chili Cook-Off in the fall.

New to Sunset Beach is the hotel that's practically boutique. Once known as Harbour Inn, it is renamed Best Western Harbour Inn these days. Recently remodeled, the hotel sits on the Sunset Beach Island bay. And across the street is a long time favorite, Ramada. Shown in the picture above, you can see an umbrella, expanse of sand, a kid playing on the mound and behind him are the tiny eves of the hotel. That's how close the hotel is to the beaches of Sunset Beach. It is one of the closest beach hotels (EconoLodge AKA Sanatra Inn is another in Sunset), on the sand side of the street. You have to go all the way south to Newport Beach to catch the next sand properties, Balboa Inn, Balboa Bay Club, Dory Inn and Newport Beach Hotel. But those hotels usually cost more.
