San Juan Capistrano is home to a beautiful Spanish mission built by early settlers under the direction of a Spanish Catholic Father Junipero Serra. San Juan Capistrano is also known for its ghosts in the historic Los Rios district. And one more items of interst that gains lots of press is Return of the Swallows each March at the mission. Whether swallows return or not, there's always lively mission entertainment with exhibits, food vendors and culutral heritage displays from the local Indian nation. The mission is a practicing Catholic church that holds services, in addition to being open as a tour experience for vacationers.
