Lincoln Gold Country California Vacations, Escapes and Business Trips
Lincoln in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada is considered part of the California Gold Country region. Though its modern shops, restaurants and lifestyle seem somewhat removed from the history it once knew, Lincoln likes to remember and celebrate history in small and big ways.
Nationally known annual event, Feats of Clay, is an art competition in which artists converge in Lincoln to display their works of art and provide craft demonstrations. Also during the month, the Gladding McBean clay factory offers tours of its facilities. Held in May, there's also a cultural celebration, Holy Ghost Festival. Celebrating Lincoln's Portuguese heritage with a parade, a carnival featuring traditional Portuguese customs and foods, and the crowning of a queen highlight this unique event.
From the community Easter Egg Hunt to 4th of July parade and fireworks, Lincoln is always busy planning something tourists will enoy. One of the fun competitons that draws an audience much like the Feats of Clay, Tour de Lincoln bike ride is held on the Saturday before Mother's Day. For eight weeks in the summer there's a downtown farmer's market on Thursday evenings (though produce is always great in local markets), and if you love food a lot, book your vacation in conjunction with the annual crab feeds--one in February and the other in November.
