Vacation Beaches in Bodega Bay, California

Northern California coast offers some of the most natural and beautiful beach vacations in California. You will be amazed by the scenic coast in Northern California Coastal Redwoods Counties Sonoma, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte. Filmmakers love this area offering the look and feel of a New England coastal scene. Movies such as The Birds, and the popular TV series, Murder, She Wrote, both used settings from this region in their productions.

Bodega Bay is the southern portion of the region, and one of the best vacations outside San Francisco. Doran Park and the beaches along this area can often contain a fog or mist, but it merely adds to the romance. Driving north along the coast to Little River, Fort Bragg, Mendocino, Eureka, and Crescent City, there's so much to explore, and the drive is simply amazing. Rural and relaxing, it's a trip well worth taking. Hotels are sparse along the coast, except for a mix of cabins, B&B's and a few hotels after you depart Bodega Bay heading north. Fort Bragg, Mendocino and Eureka are your best bets for hotels along the way. And don't be surprised if there aren't many restaurants and chain hotels. This is not the character of the northern coast. The residents and even Sonoma County work hard and strive to maintain the open spaces. As such, you pay more for food, or may not find the conveniences you seek for miles on end. It's just the way it is. But again, as you overlook the blue Pacific on drives where cows sit along the highway and wildflowers blossom in vivid displays, this bit of paradise offers a strikingly different, refreshing view of another California that you wouldn't imagine if you only visited San Francisco or L.A.
