Aptos, California Travel Guide

Aptos, California is a charming seaside city located not far from Santa Cruz. When visiting its beaches and redwood forests, you'll enjoy a great vacation at beach hotels overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There's no way to express the pleasure you'll experience on a visit to Aptos and nearby Santa Cruz. In contrast to many flat, sandy Southern California beaches, Aptos is located at the base of hillsides, and its charm is as unique as an English village, but in a very California way.

Surfing culture is popular with girls and guys locally (be sure to check out the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum.) The region also inspires artists and thinkers.

European and world travelers are drawn to this area south of San Francisco because of its pristine beauty. Located along the Monterey Bay, the largest national marine sanctuary in the USA, it's not unusual to see dolphins and whales swim by. Aptos is not only related to Monterey in mind and spirit, but to Santa Cruz even more. The nearby destination is home to an authentic, 100-year-old Beach BoadWalk with outdoor and indoor amusement rides overlooking the Santa Cruz beach. A very special treat departing the Santa Cruz beach in the summer is the Beach Train which travels from the ocean, through redwood forests where it stops at Felton, then returns back to the beach again. For several hours of fun, this outdoor train ride is incredible pleasant for all ages. It is one of the highlights of our visits to Aptos, Capitola, Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley.
