American Canyon, California Travel Guide
American Canyon is the gateway to Napa Valley and California wine country. Growing from a small town into a destination and with new homes, businesses and representation in the tech sector, the growth of Silicon Valley into surrounding regions and the popularity of wine tasting combines business and pleasure so that American Canyon is a spot to watch for trends and future growth. Watch as this city grows into a hotel destination serving the likes of Napa and Vallejo. One example of what you may see in the future is a beautiful hotel, Gaia Napa Valley, which includes meeting space, a full service spa and a no-smoking policy in a new hotel that means your rooms and the air do not carry the lingering smells of cigarettes.

As you enter the placid seeming community with shady oaks and eucalyptus, you might easily feel you've driven into "sleepyville." But continue driving no more than a mile and you'll see that the farms and fields speak of American Canyon as it began. Where it is going is a whole other matter.

Ideally situated only 5 miles or 10 minutes by car from Vallejo with its ferry landing and boats to San Francisco, plus the popular Six Flags Discovery Kingdom that includes whales and a variety of sea creatures in addition to thrill rides, American Canyon is not so sleepy afterall. Drive south to Vallejo, or north 15 minutes to Napa wine country. And to the east you'll find Fairfield, a wonderful city with lots of events and activities such as the Jelly Bean Factory.
