Avalon on Catalina Island is comparable to Club Med. It is an hour boat ride from Los Angeles. Take island tours, explore the Green Pleasure Pier, rent a golf cart, visit Wrigley Gardens or just sunbathe at the beach.

While the excitement of a day or several in Avalon is relaxing, don't expect the nightlife of Los Angeles, San Diego or San Francisco.
