San Clemente is a beautiful Orange County, California beach community set amongst rolling hills north of San Diego. It's downtown and beaches offer a quaint beach town ambience. Once the home and Western Whitehouse for former President Richard Nixon, the city is a scenic place with a pier that holds a unique restaurant and bar. Surfing is one of the popular sports activities at San Clemente and some of the top surfers and surf magazines originate from the city. In addtion, migrating whales frequent the offshore feeding areas, and boat excursions from neighbor Dana Point head south to San Clemente to enjoy whale watch sightings.

On the beach itself you'll find volleyball nets for play, many coves and neighborhood beaches and a wonderful walk / jog path for exercise at the beach.

One of the most charming spots to sit and relax for us tourists and visitors is a fish restaurant on San Clemente Pier. Serving burgers, salads and nightly happy hour specials, be sure to take a stroll on the pier for special sunset viewing.

Getting to San Clemente is so easy: Amtrak train makes a stop directly at the beach within walking distance of hotels and shops.
