Santa Barbara is one of America's favorite beach destinations. Not only has it gained a reputation as the home of many celebrities (we've seen Oprah, Jonathan Winters, Alan Thicke and John Travolta,) it also is a favored vacation getaway for ordinary people seeking family vacations or romantic couples weekends.

From the Spanish architecture and influence seen in downtown brick walkways and the red-tiled roofs of places such as the historic Courthouse, to the bookstores, gift stores, boutiques and cafes, the look and feel is Continental--which is really odd, considering the city sits outside L.A. in the countryside.

With a state university and a college, there are many well-educated individuals, and the academic influence infuses the city with creative juices.

For photographers, the city offers many opportunities to expand your horizons. Not only are the views, vistas and mountains spectacular for picture taking, the well known Brooks College offers photo courses.

Artists are drawn to Santa Barbara, as well. A very organized system allowing limited sales of artwork at a weekend beach fair attracts a high caliber of art and artists.

In addition to the shopping for art, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art worth seeing, and there are other museums and gardens around the city to explore. Santa Barbara Mission, carriage museum, botanic garden, Stearns Wharf and upscale Bacara Resort are a few of our favorite haunts. Nestled between the Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, the Hotel Mar Monte is conveniently located on oceanfront Cabrillo Boulevard in Santa Barbara California, across from East Beach and a quick stroll away from the charming Santa Barbara Zoo. This classic seaside hotel is a shining gateway to the City of Santa Barbara, also known as the American Riviera. Hotel Mar Monte is detailed with a fusion of Spanish Colonial architecture blended with modern conveniences. Enjoy your Santa Barbara vacation in one of our 173 comfortably appointed guestrooms. Smoking is not permitted on hotel property, and is not permitted on guest room balconies. We offer a limited number of rooms to guests with dogs. For convenience, these rooms are all located in our Santa Rosa building, which is across the street from a park. These guest rooms are in the STANDARD room category. Dogs are not permitted in our Ocean View or Deluxe rooms. If the standard room category is unavailable at time of booking, we regret we would be unable to accept a reservation including a dog. Dogs must be crated when left in the guest room without the presence of their "human" caretakers. For liability reasons, we are unable to allow the following breeds: Akita, German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Pit Bulls and Pit Mix, Doberman Pinscher. We always permit and allow therapy dogs, and those dogs used in Law Enforcement. $75 Non-refundable Pet Fee to be used for deep cleaning of room. We DO NOT allow cats or any other domestic pet.
