San Francisco Bay Area hotels range in services from budget to luxury resort accommodations. While the location often dictates the price you must pay when you're staying at Fisherman's Wharf, let's say, you can shop and get some deals occassionally. Look for the "off" days. In Silicon Valley and off day may be a weekend, which means if you're flying into San Francisco for a vacation or other trip on a weekend, consider staying in Redwood City, Burlingame or other cities where a strong business and corporate environment exists. However, if you are visiting busy San Francisco and other shopping, dining, and entertainment regions, you may want to check out week day rates if saving money is your top goal. The good news is that deals can be found and you don't have to sacrifice a quality bed or room to get them. In cities such as San Jose, convention hotels are mid-range and you'll seldom see prices drop. But nevertheless, we love our weekend getaways to San Jose to see the arts and entertainment you can walk to from a convention-close hotel. So do check out the many regions and attractions that the Bay Area offers. Not to be missed is one of our favorites, the beaches. From Bodega Bay to Pacifica, Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz, these beaches are gems of the California coast. Compared to Southern California beaches, the water is cooler, but the scenic beauty is unique and unforgetable.

When visiting the Bay Area, you'll discover some unique booking situations in hotels. We've tried to report on this phenomenon previously, but want you to know that in high-tech cities such as San Jose, Redwood City, and even Mountain View, you may want to check out weekend rates on hotel rooms for your visit. In cities where the business traveler drives pricing, you'll find that traveler goes home on the weekend, thus leaving a large inventory of business class rooms to be had at budget pricing. Now that's the kind of deal you may want to take advantage of. Maybe you'll drive a few miles more, but the other opportunity is to explore these communities and cities that have invested heavily in the arts and entertainment, making them not just nice places to live, but also nice places to visit!
