Morro Bay Travel Information


Morro Bay on California's Central Coast includes beautiful hotels overlooking Morro Rock. It is also close to Hearst Castle in San Simeon. When visiting Morro Bay, take time to enjoy golfing, boat tours and a spectacular state park near hotels.

Visits to Morro Bay can include kayaking in the bay, dining at village cafes and restaurants, and hikes in the local woods and parks.

For exploration near the bay and rock, be sure to drive over to Cambria to explore the art shops, wine tasting and additional beaches. Other attractions include the Piedras Blancas seal rookery where you can stand on the hill above the beach and watch the seal often numbering in the hundreds molt (shed their skin.) The bark, they roll, they play and challenge each other, and humans must stand at a distance for safety as these sea creatures could crush a human.

Morro Bay is best known for the big rock that's visible most everywhere in town. It is one of a series of huge rock formations.
