Sofitel Hotel is a beautiful AAA Four Diamond property overlooking a lagoon in Redwood City, featuring a very high-tech flavor. During our visit, we enjoyed incredible dining in the hotel restaurant, Bay 223, and loved the modern, richly-decorated lobbies, bar and lounge areas. Pictured above is the new room decor that will enhance each hotel room in upcoming renovation. For now, it is available in some of the rooms. Other rooms include a more provincial look.

 

A swimming pool overlooks the waterways of this European-styled hospitality property, where rooms are being decorated in the style shown above. Beds are comfortably firm and bedding features high quality sheets and covers. The artwork is modern and color schemes will reflect warm tones, tan, black, gray and white with artwork highlighted by the room's subtler tones.

 

Featuring free shuttle service from San Francisco International Airport (subject to change), Sofitel provides a little distance from the airport in comfortable, pampered surroundings that include a salon.

 

When visiting the San Francisco Bay Area, we discovered (thanks to the San Mateo County Convention and Visitors Bureau) that SFO Airport is in Burlingame and San Mateo County, NOT San Francisco. But you can stay either near the airport in cities such as Burlingame, Redwood City, E. Palo Alto and other gems, or take a taxi or public transportation into the city just a few miles away. San Francisco isn't the most fun place to drive a car when trying to park but for convenience and transportation, most attractions are close by, so taxis and other transportation is especially convenient in that regard.
