Westley,
California often seems like just a road stop in
the long journeys between Southern California
and all points north on Interstate 5. South of
the San Joaquin County Line in Stanislaus
County, it is located 275 miles north of Los
Angeles, 88 miles south of Sacramento, 84 miles
southeast of San Francisco and 40 miles
southeast of Livermore.
Stanislaus
County area averages 12.0 inches of rainfall
annually. Temperatures range from an average low
of 38° F in the winter to an average high in the
upper 90's during summer months. Spring and fall
are mild with an average high in the low 80's.
Just 6 miles away is the Apricot Capital of the
World in Patterson. Every Saturday Evening June
through September there's Patterson
Farmer’s Market/Street Faire 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on
Las Palmas Avenue between North and South Parks.
There's also an annual Apricot Festival held
usually on Memorial Day Weekend. patterson-ca.com/
Got food, gas
and a hotel? Westley has them all with KFC,
Taco Bell, A&W, McDonalds and Denny's, plus gas
stations and several hotels. We liked this
Holiday Inn Express the best. It appears to be
nearly new and very well kept. If you need to
stop and rest, Westley can't be beat.

Stanislaus County in California's Central
Valley, between Stockton and Fresno. As the
price of housing increases in the
San Francisco Bay Area, many commuters moved
to Stanislaus County. Agriculture is Stanislaus
County's number one industry.
Stanislaus
County was formed from a portion of Tuolumne
County in 1854. The county is named for the
Stanislaus River, first discovered by Gabriel
Moraga in 1806, and later renamed Rio Estanislao
in honor of Estanislao, a mission-educated
Native American chief who led a band of Indians
in a series of battles against Mexican troops
until finally being defeated by General Mariano
Vallejo in 1826. Estanislao was his baptismal
name, the Spanish rendition of Stanislaus,
itself the Latin rendition of the name of an
11th century Catholic saint from Poland, St.
Stanislaw.
