Near the beach, several parks and facilities can be found. Cypress Park, also known as Clark Field hosts baseball diamonds, basketball, and tennis courts. The South Park is a great spot for families to stop for the children's play area, hockey rink, and large soccer field. There is also a Skateboard Park located on Pier Avenue. There is a Lawn Bowling Club next to the Clark Building on Valley Drive. This club provides lessons and instructions for beginners, and they furnish equipment to the public.
Hermosa Beach's rainy season ranges from late October through late March making it a perfect spot for a summer vacation. If you visit Hermosa Beach during Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend, be sure to stop in at the Fiesta Hermosa arts and crafts festival. On July 4th, Hermosa Beach holds the Hermosa Ironman where competitors run a mile on the sand, paddle a mile on a surf board, then drink a six pack of beer while keeping it down for the next fifteeen minutes. For surfers, there is an International Surf Festival beginning in August that holds surfing, paddleboard, and pier to pier swimming events.
To get to Hermosa Beach, jump on 405 from the North or South. Take the Artesia Boulevard exit and head west. Take Artesia Boulevard until it ends and turns into Gould Avenue. Follow Gould Avenue to Greenwich Village and turn left to head south. You will now be on Hermosa Avenue. The Hermosa Beach Pier is located in between 13th and 11th streets.
