Harbor View Inn has been one of our favorite 4 Diamond properties for many years. Not only does it enjoy a location across the street from Stearns Wharf and the Pacific Ocean, it also is finely appointed with modern decor that's pleasant and upscale. 

We discovered one of the great Santa Barbara artists by enjoying his artwork in our hotel suite. He sold his art locally and now provides a happy remembrance of the family stays at this hotel.

Several restaurants are outside your hotel door, including some fine dining, Mexican and great American-style burgers and sandwiches. A playground and lap swimming pool are across the street in the community building.  There's a carriage museum down the street several blocks and the underpass for State Street shopping that crosses Highway 101 provides a healthy walk to the shops. Buses also drive up and down the path to the shops and along West Cabrillo to the Santa Barbara Zoo.

From surrey rentals to bikes and skates, this location can provide a couples weekend getaway or a great family retreat.  There's a beautiful public skate park at the beach where lots of parents watch their kids navigate the banks and ledges.

While a stay at Harbor View Inn can require booking well in advance of your trip and the price is not cheap, we sure have enjoyed staying in there and rank it one of our favorite choices for accommodations in Santa Barbara, having tried about 10 hotels and inns to date.
