Harbor House Cafe in
Sunset Beach has been around since 1939, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to local residents,
surfers, night owls, fishermen, bikers, out-of-towners and anybody else
who loves good cookin!
We used to go there after being up all night, attending concerts and
parties in our youth. They continue today to serve up those hot
breakfasts that just satisfy you after an all-nighter, a morning surf
session, jog, bike ride or even afternoon activities.
Harbor House Cafe isn't fancy.
It's got the old-fashioned counters where you can sit and get coffee
poured right away. There's also a patio where you can grab a bit of the
Sunset ocean just a half block away across the greenbelt on Pacific.
For scrambled eggs, toast, hash
browns, hamburgers, french fries, soups, salads, sandwiches and meal
plates, your best bet in Sunset Beach for traditional American food
preparations is Harbor House Cafe.
For breakfast, who can resist
burritos, huevos rancheros, hotcakes, French toast and around 25
omelettes? Ingredients range from chicken, ham, Mexican sausage, stuffed
spinach, crab, avocado, Ortega chiles and great spices such as onions,
olives and salsa. Hot cakes includes seasonal flavors such as banana
nut, pecan and blueberry. You can even add some breakfast sides such as
a cup of chili, home fries, cup of rice, cole slaw and more.
Luncheon menu includes salads
galore such as Cobb, Caesar, Cashew Chicken, Mediterranean, Crab Louie
and Crispy Chicken Finger. Tostadas, French Beef Dip, Chili Size, Roast
Beef, Turkey Melt, Chicken Breast, Tuna Salad, Grilled Cheese and BLT
are some standards...all fresh and delicious. Burgers range from Bacon
Burger to Guacamole, Teriyaki to Cheeseburger.
A Mexican Menu includes fajitas,
burritos, tacos, quesadillas and salsa, of course. Then there's the
Chinese option with three types of stir fry.
For dinner entrees, whet your
appetite with over a dozen tasty appetizers, followed by a meal that
includes 8 types of chicken, 7 types of fish, 5 types of steak and pork
chops, or liver.
Wine and Beer are both served,
herbal teas, Mr. Pibb, Lemonade, hot chocolate with whipped cream and
refills on most soft drinks, tea, coffee and cocoa. Fresh squeezed
juices are also made daily.
Open 24 hours a day, 365
days a year, Harbor House Cafe is located in Sunset Beach and Dana
Point. We found them open on Christmas Day as shown in the picture
above. And look at the crowd!
