Corona Del Mar, Calif. - Goldenrod Footbridge in Corona del Mar (Newport Beach) was originally built for local residents and tourists to provide access to the beach.  The Goldenrod Footbridge was built in 1928 for the price of $10,844 and spans 243 feet across what was then known as Pacific Gulch. It was built to provide convenient access to the beach for residents and visitors to the community. At the time of construction the population of Newport Beach was less than 2000 residents. Today Newport Beach and Corona del Mar (a community within the city) have over 83,000 residents.

The bridge in Corona del Mar is set amongst beautiful neighborhoods with shade trees and nice homes. Corona del Mar, a community of Newport Beach, features an abundance of flowers. While this bridge and street are named Goldenrod, we did  not notice any namesake flowers, though the bridge is lined with flower boxes filled with pink, white, fuchsia begonias and other types.

The bridge setting is an ideal place to take pictures, as is Corona del Mar, itself. Many streets in Corona del Mar have flower names and Sherman Gardens, a lovely public garden operated as a nonprofit organization, it not far away on Pacific Coast Highway and is an enjoyable place to visit and photograph.
