Huntington Beach Restaurants
Huntington
Beach food was once fairly simple. You
basically got to choose between fast
burgers, tacos, pizza or chicken and the
finer cuisine was mainly Mexican,
Italian, steaks, fish and a few ethnic
options salted in.
Today
the faire is diverse, though this city
by the sea is hoping to see more and
more cultural flair in years to come.
For the budget minded and kid-focused
meals, you'll be glad to know you can
purchase just about any type of
hamburger or chicken nugget meal with
french fries and a surprise, that you
seek. A handful of McDonald's
restaurants, several Burger King chain
restaurants, Wendy's, Carl's Jr. and In
N Out burger offer the staples.
Mexican fast food includes Del Taco and
Taco Bell. There are some Southern
California chain Mexican restaurants
that offer a sit down meal with
margaritas and heaping fajitas. Mario's,
Super Mex, Don Jose's and Avila El
Ranchito are a few.
For
pizza, you can eat at Pizza Hut,
Dominos, Whole Lotta Pizza, Chuck E.
Cheese and many more. We like Oggi's
Pizza for a once-in-a-while treat, too.
Chinese is all over the place. What town
doesn't offer Chinese food or some
derivative thereof? The chain fast food
is Pick up Stix, and one standout in
downtown Huntington Beach for vegetarian
is Bodhi Tree. They make great soups and
offer "meats" that look like the real
thing. Across the street and down a
little is another favorite of ours, Thai
Wave. Five types of curry offerings make
this a must for those who love curry
sauces.
Italian is fantastico! The Italian
chain, Buca di Beppo offers a meal
that's really delicious and across the
street, Macaroni Grill serves up some
tasty pastas. But don't ignore another
Italian spot within the same block at
Bella Terra shopping center. California
Pizza Kitchen serves it hot and tasty.
Local Italian restaurants run by mom &
pop chefs are all over the place.
So
we've traveled the world and still do
not have real strong offerings in
Persian, Indian or even Greek, though
the fast food Greek cafes serve
affordable, fast meals.
You'll find numerous sushi restaurants,
a great Japanese chain that's fairly new
to town, Gyu Kaku, and lots of pho
style Vietnamese restaurants just over
the border in Westminster.
