These professional skaters have lived on the ice much of their lives. They skate at this newest Southern California rink, provide lessons and help operate the exciting, fun attraction in Redondo Beach that opened in November 2008.

 

In the video above, professional, award-winning ice skaters Scott and Azumi Williams provided a small ice show demonstration to the public on a sunny Sunday afternoon just a week after the ice skating attraction launched in Redondo Beach. Skating effortlessly, the couple made use of the  120-by-60-foot ice surface while artfully dodging youngsters and first time skaters. While a range of skating skills are apparent in the rink, there are some surprises for those who come to enjoy the fun. Not only do world class skaters such as Azumi offer classes to help you get launched, you'll often find some incredible talent on the ice. While many don't associate Southern California with ice skating, quite a few pro skaters and Olympic athletes have come from this region.

 

Scott Williams seen in this video has been a competitive skater and producer of ice shows, television shows, film projects and too many awards to mention in one brief paragraph. Having coached Michelle Kwan to her fifth world championship crown, Scott's talents are endless. Scott's knowledge, along with his wife's background in skating and marketing, have helped launch the Seaside Ice rink and garner national publicity to this warm-weather locale.

 

While the video above barely shows the obstacles the couple faced in skating around toddlers and adults experiencing  their first time on skates, what's evident is that their ability to perform in all types of situations. You may get a glimpse of them skating from time to time at the rink. When they are out on the ice, it is an incredible treat!
