S3
SUPERGIRL JAM ANNUAL EVENT in HUNTINGTON BEACH
All-Female
Action Sports Festival, Free and Open to the Public All
Weekend
More than 100 of the
world’s most stylish and talented women in action sports
will return this summer to compete in the highly anticipated
Second Annual S3 Supergirl Jam. The unique three-day event
featuring surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding
competitions will run in conjunction with the 2008 Honda
U.S. Open of Surfing and is guaranteed to be jam-packed full
of fun extras.
The S3 Supergirl Jam will again be hosted by a committee of
four talented female athletes that possess the qualities of
a Supergirl “actionista.” They are Gretchen Bleiler (snow),
Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins (skate), Kassia Meador (surf) and
Fabiola da Silva (inline). The public is encouraged to come
out and enjoy a free, family-friendly, public beach fair
that will feature free skateboarding clinics for girls of
all ages, autograph sessions, sponsor tents and live music.
Featuring Female Skateboard and Snowboard Rail Jam
Competitions For the second consecutive year the S3
Supergirl Jam-the Action Sports Industry's largest
female-only Action Sports event-hits the beaches of Southern
California, this time in the shadows of the legendary
Huntington Beach Pier. Surf City here we come!
It's only fitting that the Pier will host over 100 of the
World's best female action sports stars July 25-27 as the S3
Supergirl Jam hits the beach in conjunction with the 2008
Honda U.S. Open of Surfing.
Top female skateboarders, snowboarders, inline skaters and
surfers from all over the world will come together in
Huntington Beach to shred a vert ramp, street course and a
bowl (a new element for this year), alongside a Snowboard
Rail (Yes, we're bringing snow to HB). In addition to all
the on-shore action, the Supergirl Junior Pro, officially
sanctioned by the ASP, will crown the event's top 18
year-old or younger female surfer.
Skateboarders Cara-Beth Burnside, Mimi Knoop, Vanessa
Torres, Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins, and Lacey Baker are expected to
participate alongside Snowboarders Jamie Anderson and
Chanelle Sladics and Inline Skate legend Fabiola da Silva.
With ramps, rails, snow and waves, the S3 Supergirl Jam will
bring together the best elements of Action Sports right on
Huntington Beach, celebrating the progression of women in
Action Sports. Pack your sunblock, load up a cooler, and get
ready for an action-packed weekend.
Make no mistake, the S3 Supergirl Jam is no sideshow novelty
act. These ladies are the real deal. In 2007 we saw
eight-foot airs and backflips on the vert ramp from Fabiola
da Silva, tré flips on the street course from Lacey Baker,
as well as a host of ladies shredding the snowboard rail in
a best trick competition. 2008 is shaping up to be even
better with the addition of a bowl competition and the
Supergirl Junior Pro surfing event. As if that weren't
enough, there will be musical performances from some great,
all-female bands, including The Donnas and Clique Girlz. On
your way to the stage, take a walk through the interactive
village of female-inspired activities, including Skate
clinics, autograph signings, and sponsor booths. There's
something for everyone at the S3 Supergirl Jam.
The S3 Supergirl Jam is completely free to the public, so
join us in Huntington Beach July 25-27 as we crown the 2008
Supergirls!
