2012 Race Features
The 2012 race features chip timing and a post-race party with refreshments, live DJ and an awards ceremony. ALL HALF MARATHON PARTICIPANTS WILL LONG SLEEVE TECHNICAL T-SHIRT AND "VIRTUAL GOODIE BAG." 5K Participants will receive a short sleeve cotton shirt. All half marathon participants will also receive a finishers medal. Awards to the top three finishers in each category for the half marathon and the 5K.
We will have two packet pick-up times:
Friday, November 9th 4:00pm-7:00pm
Saturday, November 10th 10:00am-3:00pm
Friday Packet Pick-up will be only bib and t-shirt pick-up, while the Saturday Packet Pick-Up will have the Half Marathon Expo.
HALF MARATHON PARTICIPANTS WHO DO NOT PICK UP THEIR BIB NUMBER ON FRIDAY OR SATURDAY- MUST PAY A $10 LATE FEE ON RACE MORNING.
Half Marathon Expo
The half marathon expo will be held on Saturday from 10:00am-3:00pm. Pick-up Location will be at Road Runner Sports in Kearny Mesa on Saturday, November 10th All participants must attend and pick up their own race materials. We do not allow friends or family members to pick up bibs for athletes. ID's are mandatory at the expo. Participants who do not choose the mail bib number option must attend the check-in to pick up their race materials and t-shirt.
Bib Mail Back
For an additional fee of $15 select "Bib Mail Back" when registering. You will receive your bib number in the mail at least 5 days prior to the race. You are not required to attend the packet pick up/expo. The dead line to choose this option is October 23, 2012. Your t-shirt will not be mailed out to you, it will be available at the finish line.
Bus Shuttle Option #1
Half Marathon OnlyThe State of California is now charging to park at the Silver Strand State Beach since Prop 21 did not pass in Nov. 2010. Prop 21 would have added $18 to the vehicle registration fees. As such, they are charging $8 per parking space for this event.The Silver Strand Half Marathon will absorb $4 of this cost. Athletes parking at the State Beach must pay an additional $4 for parking. This will be limited to the first 1,000 athletes who pre-pay for this option.
Bus Shuttle Options #2-4

Option 2 You will have someone drop you off at the start and pick you up at the finish
Option 3 Park your car near Imperial Beach Pier ( very limited parking). The first 200 participants ONLY may take the free bus shuttle to the start at 5:45 a.m. sharp. There will be no service after this time.
Option 4> Park your car near Coronado City Hall at 1825 Strand Way. (very limited parking)
We do provide GEAR CHECK for Half Marathon participants. The gear check will be open from 6-7:15 AM on race morning in Sunset Park. GEAR CHECK is not provided for 5K participants.
5K Race DetailsLast years 5k SOLD OUT at over 1,000 runners and walkers. The 5k will continue to be part of this years exciting weekend. The race starts and finishes at Imperial Beach Pier Park. It is a flat and fast out and back course. The race starts at 7:00 a.m.

Refund & Transfer Policy
Partial refunds and transfers are available. Cancel by August 5th and receive a refund, minus a $10 cancellation fee. Cancel after August 5th and receive a refund, minus a $25 cancellation fee. Once the race sells out, refunds will not be offered. You may transfer your entry to the 2013 event or to another person until October 25th.
To transfer your entry to the 2013 event or to another person, you must download a SSHM Transfer Form. Transfer form must be received or postmarked by the October 25th deadline. There is $20 transfer fee for all transfers.
