Tulipmania Feb.
10 - 15, 2010
In
addition to the annual
Pier 39
Christmas Tree Lighting, a special event
that lights up the night, Pier 39 is known
for an active calendar of events throughout
the year, including Tulipmania in February.
Known for Fisherman's Wharf, cable cars and
the
seals and sea lions that return to Pier
39's docks each year, there's also a
wonderful 4th of July Fireworks display and
Halloween event for the kids.
But one
of the loveliest events all year long is
Tulipmania, a colorful display of thousands
of tulips that spring into bloom just weeks
before Easter bunnies come.
Tulipmania greets
tourists and locals to a real treat,
complete with free guided tours beginning at
10 a.m. daily. Go to the entrance to the
Plaza to find the tour guide who will tell
you all about these beautiful flower
arrangements. Apricot Beauties, Texas
Flames, Purple Princes, Flaming Parrots,
Swan Wings and Burgundy Lace are some of the
flowers that grace the flower pots lining
the shopping and entertainment center, the
most popular venue along the waterfront next
to Fisherman's Wharf. Topped with winter
vegetables such as lettuce, parsley, celery
and red chard, guests are delighted each
year by the visual feast, which in this
instance, is followed by the Wines of
California Wine Bar for post-tour
refreshments. If you are unable to book a
tour, take a stroll down PIER 39 on your own
to enjoy this beautiful floral display.
Also, visitors can enjoy the PIER 39
Tulipmania Sale.
