Conceived by Jewlia Eisenberg, founder of the band Charming Hostess. The interactive sound installation is based on sex and magic in “demon bowls,” amulets common in late-antique Babylon. Musical context for project is drawn from the female body, the rich traditions of the Babylonian Jews, and other diaspora sources, both Jewish and African. Presented in association with New Frequencies, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
