Dive N' Surf Redondo Beach Lobster Festival
September 25-27, 2009
Redondo Beach, Calif.--The
annual Redondo Beach Lobster Festival
started off with a splash in 2009 as we
watched world class wakeboarders take to the
seaside waterways, putting on a quite a show
for thousands who came to eat Lobster, enjoy
live bands, and participate in one of
Redondo Beach's favorite events of the year.
In addition to the festival
which takes place each autumn in Los Angeles
County's south bay region just seven miles
south of Los Angeles International Airport,
the entire beachfront is humming with
activities that range from dining harborside,
renting kayaks, taking sportfishing trips,
riding bicycles along the coast, or hopping
on the shopping bus available to guests
staying at Crowne Plaza across the street
from the Lobster Festival and beach.
The Lobster Festival
includes booths with activities and
merchandise, a "casino" with games, steaming
lobster from Maine which is not required to
buy with your admission fee, and some
excellent entertainment with popular bands
and water entertainment in the Seaside
Lagoon, and entertainment complex
overlooking the Redondo Beach harbor.
When you book a hotel room
and stay overnight, you can wander over
across the street for a cozy breakfast on
the oceanfront at either Polly's on the Pier
on the Pier or Ruby's Diner. The hotel has a
great restaurant, too! Take a 45 minute boat
ride on the bay aboard the Voyager, then
head over to the Lobster Festival for a full
day of entertainment.
Redondo Beach is absolutely
one of the top beach destinations in
Southern California for its waterside dining
options, with over 40 restaurants sporting
water views! That's more riparian dining
than anywhere on the coast actually, except
possibly San Francisco...and maybe San
Diego.
While the Lobster Festival
is a complete package with all the food you
could want, we ran across some other
fantastic options that allow you to eat
fresh fish and lobster as they are
seasonally available.
