2009 Concerts in the Park – Downtown Pleasanton
The 2009 Concerts in the Park series runs June through early
September on Fridays at 7 p.m. It lasts 1.5
hours and is held in Lions Wayside Park , corner of First
and Neal Streets in Pleasanton . The
free concerts are presented by the Pleasanton Downtown
Association and sponsored by local businesses.
June 5 – The CoolTones – The CoolTones is made up of
Tri-Valley and other East Bay musicians who will entertain
you with big band and swing classics as well as more
contemporary tunes. This band will get you up, off your feet
and dancing! This concert is sponsored by The Petal Pusher
and Resurrection.
June 12 – The Corvairs – This group of fifty-somethings
still have more than just a few 50's and 60's tunes up their
air-cooled sleeves. From doo-wop oldies to psychedelic funk,
The Corvairs will rev up the evening with a massive dose of
good old high-octane rock and roll. This concert is
sponsored by Big O Tires.
June 19 – The Hurricanes - The Hurricane band is from the
Tri-Valley and has been playing music in the East Bay for
the past 16 years. The force of Hurricane is driven by a
five-piece band that combines both male and female vocals.
The result is a collage of sound reflecting the best in
blues, classic and contemporary rock. This concert is
sponsored by La Lu European Mobile Spa and Jeweler’s
Gallery.
June 26 – The Crisis - The music ranges from acoustic and
classic rock to honkey tonk, and Southern rock to blues and
Motown. Their versatility and energy appeals to fans of all
ages. This concert is sponsored by the Alameda County
Fairgrounds.
July 3 – Burton & Company - "Burton & Company" returns with
their unique style of jazzy rhythm and blues. Come out and
enjoy the rhythm, fever and flow. This concert is sponsored
by East Bay BMW IN PLEASANTON and East Bay MINI IN
PLEASANTON.
July 10 – Rock Explosion - Coming to the Concerts in the
Park for their very first time, the groups plays rock hits
from bands you know and love, AC/DC, Van Halen, Journey, Led
Zepplin, Foreigner, Aerosmith, Montrose, Lynrd Skynrd,
Boston and more. This concert is sponsored by Thriving Ink
and Zzippes.
July 17 – Komodojazz - Jazz band members Jesse Mesia, Micki
Singer, Mike Parykaza, Brian Cork love jazz and you will too
as you enjoy this group. This concert is sponsored by East
Bay BMW IN PLEASANTON and East Bay MINI IN PLEASANTON.
July 24 – La Ventana - La Ventana’s sound is a cross between
Salsa, Rock, Gypsy Rock & Soul, mixed together in a unique
way. The energy from their music and performance on stage
has labeled them the band to see live. This concert is
sponsored by East Bay BMW IN PLEASANTON and East Bay MINI IN
PLEASANTON.
July 31 – Houserockers - The Houserockers bring rock and
soul classics from the 60's to the 90's to life. Featuring a
red-hot rhythm section and powerhouse five-piece horn
section, every performance is a party with the audience
singing and dancing. This concert is sponsored by
YourStageToys.com and Murphy’s Paw.
August 7 - The Cocktail Monkeys - The Cocktail Monkeys bring
you more than exciting music and perfect vocal harmony; they
bring fun, camaraderie and professionalism to each show.
You’ll enjoy a fantasy evening covering your favorite songs.
This concert is sponsored by the Pleasanton Cultural Arts
Foundation.
August 14 – Finding Stella – It’s the classic rock and pop
spirit of the 70’s and 80’s and throws in a newer, warmer
rock quality that draws huge crowds from along the West
coast and beyond. This concert is sponsored by Stork’s Nest
and Thriving Ink.
August 21 – Magic Moments - Brush off your dancing shoes and
get ready to re-live musical moments. The band is dedicated
to the legends, sounds and memories of the live performance
of Rock and Roll. The energy of the "Fifties" is displayed
with a passion. This concert is sponsored by UNCLE Credit
Union and Accusplit.
August 28 - D-Lucca. - Come enjoy a beautiful summer evening
listening to melodic jazz featuring the original
compositions of D-Lucca. With two-time, Grammy-nominated
bassist up front, this is a group of seasoned pros. This
concert is sponsored by Savvy Seconds and Rising Loafer.
September 4 – Public Eye - There's no better way to close
our concert series than with this fabulous and fun, top 40's
and dance band. You'll want to be sure to bring your dancing
shoes for this show. This concert is sponsored by
Residential Pacific Mortgage.
