The Agoura Hills Pacific Festival Ballet
production of The Nutcracker is held at the beautiful Thousand Oaks
Civic Arts Plaza. A cast of over 100 lovely costumed dancers showcase
the dance company's creative direction in this annual production.
The Pacific Festival Ballet is proud to be a resident ballet company of
the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza's line-up of entertainment. From
Nutcracker to Romeo & Juliet, Sleeping Beauty to the fresh, new Sea
Princess created by the company's very own artistic director Kim Maselli,
the ballets are exciting, unique and well worth seeing. Cutting edge,
original material comes out of this company, which is no surprise.
Located just 20 miles outside downtown
Los Angeles, the creative talent in and
out of the greater Southern California
area is tremendous. In fact, Pacific
Festival Ballet regularly attracts
luminaries from across the dance world
who step into roles, performing as guest
artists. Talented dancers not only
originate from this ballet company, but
many audition to be part of its annual
productions of The Nutcracker.
Maselli said that it is never a
challenge to find a wealth of talent for
roles in the Nutcracker, but selecting
from so many talented dancers is.
California Dance Theatre school offers
many of its students the opportunity to
get their feet wet in roles for this
ballet that requires a cast of over 100.
But to lend to the production, guest
artists from other professional
companies often can try out for
parts--and often the results are
amazing. A local ballet company
featuring world class dancers--many who
have originated or trained in this
company--garners accolades for its
quality of production.
Pacific Festival Ballet, resident ballet
company of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts
Plaza Countrywide Performing Arts
Center, unveiled a newly revised “The
Nutcracker,” in 2007. It was
greeted with open arms and great press.
As the dance company marches on, we
expect to see more great things
originating from their institution. It's
one more exciting reason to celebrate
the holiday season, and an especially
high note in Agoura Hills/Thousand Oaks
area where talent abounds.
