California Presentations of the
Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker
California Christmas Events
the annual, exciting, Nutcracker Ballet presented by the
famed Moscow Ballet Company, which visits the USA and
California. Usually making several tour stops during
November and December, Californians and visitors can see the
performances generally one night only in a particular city.
Cities on the tour often
have included Redding (home to the Sundial Bridge), a Southern
California city, Bay Area and Central Valley region. Several
opportunities to travel and see this stunning performance can
require buying your tickets when they go on sale. However, if
you miss the Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker in California, you may
be able to catch it in other states such as Arizona.
With professional costumes
and world-class ballet performances, this Nutcracker production
sets the mark for excellence that other companies try to obtain.
California, itself, features over 100 Nutcracker performances
during the holiday season (November - December). Among the
finest you'll find, San Francisco Ballet, Ballet San Jose and
many other companies produce stunning shows during the last few
months of each year. Some of the principals and dance talents
come from a global background and training, gravitating to
California for continued work & success.
Moscow Ballet company evolved out of the all-star Russian cast
Glasnost Festival Tour, created by award-winning Juilliard
alumnus, composer/conductor and theatrical producer, Akiva Talmi.
Moscow Ballet made its debut in 1993, with an all-star Russian
cast presenting the Great Russian Nutcracker, directed and
choreographed by Stanislav Vlasov (soloist, Bolshoi Theatre).
In California, the Moscow
Ballet is seldom seen performing in the same place more than a
day. So popular and in demand is the dance company, that its
planners must pick & choose the cities in which to perform in
the U.S. Among the top two spots are California and New York.
