They do it in Doheny, Dana, Bolinas to
Stinson, Huntington to Seal, Long Beach, Monterey, Newport Beach, San Diego, San
Francisco, San Luis Obispo and all points in between. What is that they do? They
surf, to be sure. And on one special day this year (June 20) surfers will unite
to clean up the beaches of California.
It's going to be an all-out effort to make
an impact on the shores where surfers' boards wash up from time to time. We live
our lives in the sea, said one Southern California surfer, who's a professional
surfer traveling the globe for money. His participation in this world event will
involve several events in Santa Cruz that include a concert, art show and more.
You don't have to surf to be involved,
according to event planners. Many activities include beach clean-ups, and even a
free yoga class in Monterey. In San Luis Bay (Avila Beach), people are
encouraged to ride their bikes to a festival event. The Surfrider group in South
Bay (Los Angeles), will donate a portion of proceeds from a special surf art
event to the Surfrider Foundation.
Here are some surfing and beach related
