Surfing Museum Community Ambassador
The Surfing Walk Of Fame event in Huntington Beach at Jack's Surfboards
on Main Street at Pacific Coast Highway took place on Thursday July
24th, 2008. This is the 15th anniversary of the annual event that the
surfing community looks forward to. The following surfers were inducted:
Wayne Lynch, Andy Irons, Rich Chew, Buzzy Trent, Drew Kampion and
Lynne
Boyer. Also inducted into the Honor Roll from the NSSA (National
Scholastic Surfing Association) were Tom Gibbons, Dr. Laird Hayes, Holly
Allen, Chuck Allen, Rob Hill and John Rothrock. To honor these
individuals, Janice Aragon, Executive Director of NSSA, was on hand.
Also in the audience were: Marine Safety Chief Kyle Lindo, Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tem Keith Bohr,
Huntington Beach City Council Members Joe Carchio and Gil Coerper as
well as Huntington Beach City Treasurer Shari Freidenrich. From
Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum Were: Randy Lyford, Chris
MacDonald, Gary Sahagen, Bob Fredrickson, Jodi And Rick McKay, Jeff
Michaels, Jericho Poppler and Bill Fury.
Thanks to the following individuals on the Surfing Walk of Fame
committee--Ron Abdelfattah, Mike Adams, Eric Charlonne, Dave Dominguez,
Leila Endersby, Chuck Linnen, Don MacAllister, Sharon Marshall, Bob
Owen, Bob Pace, Gary Pitts, Gary Sahagen, Peter "PT" Townend and John
VanOeffelen--the event was a tremendous success. TV channels KDOC's
Daybreak OC, KOCE's Real Orange, Fuel TV and HBTV3 provided television
coverage the event.
