I went to the HSS (Huntington Surf And Sport)
Surfer's Hall of Fame inductions event in front of their store at Main
Street and Pacific Coast Highway in downtown Huntington Beach. Aaron Pai
owner of HSS created an idea to make something similar to the Grohman's
Chinese Theatre in Hollywood where here in Huntington Beach, also known
as Surf City, USA, we'd have our Walk Of Surfers portraying Hollywood.
Each year he inducts four people into the Walk. This year's honorees
included Mike Parsons, Brad Gerlach, Sean Collins (owner Of Surfline.Com)
and Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew.
In attendance at the popular event were: Huntington Beach
Mayor Debbie Cook, Huntington Beach Mayor Pro-Tem Keith Bohr, Huntington
Beach City Council Members Joe Carchio and Gil Coerper, Huntington Beach
City Treasurer Shari Freidenrich and Huntington Beach Economic
Development Director Stanley Smalewitz. From the Huntington Beach
International Surfing Museum was: Randy Lyford, Chris MacDonald
(Community Ambassador), Dave Reynolds, Bob Slater, Bob Fredrickson, Gary
Sahagen, Bill Fury And Jericho Poppler. Come and see this Walk of Fame.
You'll be glad you did. US Open of Surfing
is held annually in July, and includes the Surfing Hall of Fame event
and Walk of Fame,
as well.
