Canoga
Park, CA -- Dia de los Muertos Festival (Day of the Dead Festival)
is an annual event that is quite popular in California. In some regions
the Hispanic population is around 50 percent, and the popular events and
traditions celebrated in other countries become part of the cultural
fiber of places such as Los Angeles, Santa Ana and Ventura where
Hispanic populations embrace such celebrations.
Canoga
Park hosts an annual Day of the Dead event with live music, a procession
to a church, a blessing, and many religious and non-religious events and
activities.
This
annual street festival is a blend of traditional and cultural activities
produced by Main Street Canoga Park. Dia de los Muertos celebrates
ancient Mexican and Central American traditions of paying homage to
loved ones who have passed on. Festivities are continuous all day in
historic Downtown Canoga Park. The festival has art and craft vendors,
international foods, artists’ exhibits, altar displays, a children’s art
pavilion, classic car show and a Chalk Festival mural competition.
