Sparky George, the Bear Flag Runner
and an old Marine, at the annual Hats Off America Red T-Shirt 10K Run/5K
Run or Walk in Danville, held rain or shine.
Come meet the Gold Star Family, the
Arroyaves, and let them know that their sacrifice, so we can keep our
freedom, will never be forgotten.
Hats Off America
will present Rachelle Arroyave with a check for $3,000, bringing the

All Hats Off America's fundraising
efforts are directed to providing assistance to women with multiple
children, currently Rachelle Arroyave, mother of three, 3-1/2, 7 and
11. Rachelle’s husband USMC Staff Sgt.
Jimmy Arroyave died on April 15, 2004 during his second deployment to
the Middle East . S.SGT Jimmy
had proudly served in the Marine Corps for over 10-1/2 years and had
planned on being a career Marine. He loved the Marine Corps and was
proud to be a Marine and serve his country. At the time of his
death the Arroyaves had two young daughters, Vanessa, 6-1/2 and Natalia,
2-1/2 and Rachelle was two months pregnant with Jimmy who was born in
Nov 15, 2004 .
Hats Off America was created by Sparky George, owner of
Classic Car Auto Restoration and Repair in San Ramon, a
Vietnam vet and the “Bear Flag Runner” of Danville . In honor of service
personnel being deployed in Iraq , the Bear Flag Runner has been running six
miles a night, five days a week with a five-pound weight, regardless of
weather, since September 15, 2002 . The
Hats Off America organization also takes donations and pledges for the
miles run.

Hats Off America Red T-Shirt 10K Run/5K Run or Walk
is held in honor of fallen soldiers. Sparky George, the Bear Flag Runner
and an old Marine, hosts the annual Hats Off America Red T-Shirt
10K Run/5K Run or Walk. Founder Sparky George of San Ramon has run
11,000 miles since September 2002 to honor memory of those who've served
their nation, and died.
In 2008: Meet the Gold Star Family, the Arroyaves, and let them know that
their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Hats Off America will present
Rachelle Arroyave with a check for $1,000, bringing the total to $12,100
to the family from HOA. See their story at hatsoffamerica.us. All

Ten Hats Off America fundraising events are held each year and include
Hats Off America 10K Run/5K Run / Walk. In addition
to planning these events, Sparky has been running six miles a night,
five nights a week, with a five-pound weight pack since September 15,
2002 and has run 11,000 miles for Hats Off America, a non-profit
organization that raises money and awareness for the families of
soldiers who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Event begins
at 10 a.m. at Sycamore Valley Park , 2101 Holbrook Drive , Danville,
rain or shine. Entry fee is $35 per person. There is no entry fee for
volunteers. All runners and volunteers will receive a red t-shirt, and
lunch donated by El Balazo Restaurant, a major four-year supporter. For
