Fall Pet Days Oct.3 & 4, 2009
Costa Mesa, Calif.--2nd ANNUAL FALL PET DAYS
is presented by the Animal Assistance League of Orange
County in honor of National Pet Wellness Month. The event
features animal care information, adoptions, spay and neuter
information, training tips, specialty rescue groups, pet
related vendors, nonprofit pet organizations, guest speakers
and demonstrations. FREE ADMISSION with a can of dog or cat
food.
Fall Pet Days will kick off National Pet
Wellness Month. The Animal Assistance
League of Orange County is a non-profit
no kill humane society dedicated to
aiding lost and homeless pets, helping
people with pet related problems,
promoting responsible pet-ownership and
pet population control, and preventing
cruelty to animals through educational
programs.
Pet Days will feature a mini outdoor
expo that will include several nonprofit
organizations including specialty rescue
centers and other pet related groups
offering information on pet wellness,
adoptions, spaying and neutering,
training tips, animal welfare, holiday
pet safety and other subjects via guest
speakers and demonstrations.
In addition to the Animal Assistance
League of Orange County’s booth other
nonprofit groups attending include the
Dalmatian Rescue of Southern California,
Coastal German Shepherd and German
Shepherd Rescue of Orange County,
Southern California Dachshund Relief
Inc., Pet Matchmaker Rescue as well as
the Canine Angels Service Team which
raises and trains exceptional dogs for
special needs children.
The California Domestic Ferret Education
Alliance will be on hand to promote the
domestic ferret as a companion animal.
Dr. Tara Haddad of All Paws Dog Day Care
in Fountain Valley who specializes in
medically fragile pets such as those
with cancer, diabetes and other serious
conditions will offering “Ask the Vet”
sessions several times throughout the
weekend.
Pet products and services such as Canine
Caviar Pet Foods of Costa Mesa, Wags and
Whiskers Pet Sitting from Ladera Ranch
and Happy Tails Pet Care of San Clemente
will be offered along with a pet
clothing boutique, pet identification
tags and other related items.
Special “canine” guests dropping in
include Chloe the Pit, a certified
service and therapy dog owned by Gina
Pettrow of Fountain Valley. As a team
they promote the positive image and
qualities of pit bulls.
Also, Brutus, a 5 ½ year old Bull
Mastiff and certified therapy dog owned
by Nancy Stevens of Yorba Linda, will
make a special appearance. His size will
be overshadowed by the fact he is a
gentle giant who frequents hospitals,
convalescent homes and assisted living
centers and often dons an Elvis Presley
jumpsuit.
Other canines will show off their skills
in the Soccer Collies’ show on Saturday
from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is an
interactive show in which kids play a
challenging game of soccer vs. an
athletic Border Collie.
The public may not bring their personal
pets to this event, with the exception
of therapy and seeing eye dogs.
